Residents of Konkonma, a suburb of Yeji in the Pru East District of the Bono East Region, are living in fear after the shocking murder of a 39-year-old farmer, Tawiah Akwesi Nyakor, whose lifeless body was discovered on his farm.
According to the Twuafourhene of the Konkonma Traditional Area, Nana Kweku Asante, the incident came to his attention around 7 p.m. on Sunday. He immediately mobilised the youth to help search for the missing farmer, only for the team to find his body hidden in the bush.
“The youth went into the bush to search for him and unfortunately found him dead with his throat slit, and his body covered with grass,” Nana Asante told Adom News.
The body has since been deposited at the St. Matthias Hospital morgue for preservation as police commence investigations into the brutal killing.
Fear and Panic in Konkonma
The gruesome discovery has thrown the community into a state of shock and insecurity. Many residents, especially women farmers, say they now fear going to their farms for fear of possible attacks.
“This is the first time something like this has happened here. We don’t know what will happen next, so people are scared to go to their farms,” one resident lamented.
Police are yet to release further details regarding the killing, but residents are calling on authorities to tighten security in the area to prevent future occurrences.
The tragic incident has left the once peaceful farming community unsettled, with locals demanding justice for the slain farmer.
