Emile Smith Rowe came off the bench to secure a vital point for Fulham, scoring with his very first touch to earn a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.

United, under increasing scrutiny following a poor run of results, started strongly on the River Thames. Matheus Cunha rattled the post in the early stages, while Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount both tested goalkeeper Bernd Leno. The visitors were handed a golden opportunity to take the lead when Fernandes stepped up to the penalty spot after Calvin Bassey fouled Mount in the box. However, the Portuguese midfielder uncharacteristically blazed his effort over the crossbar, squandering the chance.

United eventually made the breakthrough shortly before the hour mark. Bryan Mbeumo’s corner was flicked on by young defender Leny Yoro, and the ball deflected off Rodrigo Muniz into his own net, leaving Leno stranded.

But Marco Silva’s substitutions proved decisive for Fulham. Introducing Raúl Jiménez and Emile Smith Rowe, the latter made an immediate impact, latching onto an Alex Iwobi delivery to steer home the equaliser past Altay Bayındır.

United pushed for a late winner, with Harry Maguire heading narrowly wide, but were forced to settle for a point. The result extends manager Ruben Amorim’s struggles, with only seven wins recorded in his first 29 league matches in charge.

For Fulham, the draw ended an eight-match home losing streak against the Red Devils in league play, while for United it marked yet another frustrating evening in a season already under intense scrutiny.
