Examinations Council (WAEC)<\/strong> has officially released the <strong data-start=\"313\" data-end=\"336\">provisional results<\/strong> for candidates who sat the <strong data-start=\"364\" data-end=\"441\">2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"446\" data-end=\"704\">In a press statement issued on <strong data-start=\"477\" data-end=\"506\">Saturday, August 23, 2025<\/strong>, WAEC announced that the results of <strong data-start=\"543\" data-end=\"592\">177 candidates have been completely cancelled<\/strong>, while the <strong data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"637\">subject results of 718 others<\/strong> have also been annulled due to various examination malpractices.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"753\" data-end=\"932\">The Council further disclosed that the <strong data-start=\"792\" data-end=\"827\">entire results of 93 candidates<\/strong> have been withheld pending investigations, in addition to the <strong data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"929\">subject results of 1,240 candidates<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"934\" data-end=\"1113\">Similarly, the <strong data-start=\"949\" data-end=\"1004\">subject results of some candidates from 119 schools<\/strong> have been cancelled, while results of candidates from <strong data-start=\"1059\" data-end=\"1073\">87 schools<\/strong> remain withheld for further scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1115\" data-end=\"1295\">WAEC noted that the outcome of these investigations, expected to be completed by <strong data-start=\"1196\" data-end=\"1217\">September 6, 2025<\/strong>, will determine whether the withheld results will be released or cancelled.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1297\" data-end=\"1317\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Results_Access\"><\/span>Results Access<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1319\" data-end=\"1509\">WAEC explained that it will dispatch the official results of school candidates to their respective institutions through the <strong data-start=\"1443\" data-end=\"1506\">Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1511\" data-end=\"1615\">Candidates may also check their results online via the Council\u2019s official website, <strong data-start=\"1594\" data-end=\"1612\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.waecgh.org\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1596\" data-end=\"1610\">www.waecgh.org<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1617\" data-end=\"1645\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Examination_Statistics\"><\/span>Examination Statistics<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1647\" data-end=\"1815\">According to WAEC, a total of <strong data-start=\"1677\" data-end=\"1699\">603,328 candidates<\/strong> sat for the examination, comprising <strong data-start=\"1736\" data-end=\"1753\">297,250 males<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1758\" data-end=\"1777\">306,078 females<\/strong> from <strong data-start=\"1783\" data-end=\"1812\">20,395 schools nationwide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1817\" data-end=\"2022\">The examination also accommodated candidates with special needs, including <strong data-start=\"1892\" data-end=\"2019\">72 visually impaired students, 239 with hearing impairments, and 161 candidates requiring other forms of test accommodation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2024\" data-end=\"2124\">The 2025 BECE was conducted across <strong data-start=\"2059\" data-end=\"2087\">2,237 centres nationwide<\/strong>, with <strong data-start=\"2094\" data-end=\"2121\">2,526 candidates absent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2126\" data-end=\"2170\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Malpractices_and_Disciplinary_Measures\"><\/span>Malpractices and Disciplinary Measures<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2389\">WAEC revealed that the decision to cancel or withhold certain results was taken after its <strong data-start=\"2262\" data-end=\"2349\">36th Meeting of the Final Awards and Examiners\u2019 Appointment Committee for BECE 2025<\/strong>, held on <strong data-start=\"2359\" data-end=\"2386\">Friday, August 15, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2391\" data-end=\"2423\">The measures approved include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2424\" data-end=\"2652\">\n<li data-start=\"2424\" data-end=\"2481\">\n<p data-start=\"2426\" data-end=\"2481\"><strong data-start=\"2426\" data-end=\"2461\">Cancellation of subject results<\/strong> of 718 candidates<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2482\" data-end=\"2538\">\n<p data-start=\"2484\" data-end=\"2538\"><strong data-start=\"2484\" data-end=\"2518\">Cancellation of entire results<\/strong> of 177 candidates<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2539\" data-end=\"2597\">\n<p data-start=\"2541\" data-end=\"2597\"><strong data-start=\"2541\" data-end=\"2575\">Withholding of subject results<\/strong> results<\/strong> of 93 candidates<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2654\" data-end=\"2922\">WAEC emphasized that affected candidates will receive official notifications on the reasons for cancellation or withholding of their results.
