Similarly, the <strong data-start=\"1178\" data-end=\"1195\">Kompienga Dam<\/strong> reached <strong data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1221\">177.90 metres<\/strong>, with a filling rate of <strong data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1256\">79.36%<\/strong>, only <strong data-start=\"1263\" data-end=\"1282\">2.10 metres shy<\/strong> of its normal retention capacity.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1320\" data-end=\"1368\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Official_Warning_to_Downstream_Communities\"><\/span>Official Warning to Downstream Communities<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1370\" data-end=\"1497\">SONABEL cautioned that the decision to open the floodgates was necessary to prevent the dams from breaching dangerous limits.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1499\" data-end=\"1532\">\ud83d\udea8 <strong data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1527\">SONABEL\u2019s Flood Alert<\/strong> \ud83d\udea8<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1533\" data-end=\"1881\">\n<p data-start=\"1535\" data-end=\"1881\">\u201cFollowing the heavy rainfall recorded in recent days, the water level of the Bagre Dam has reached a critical threshold and requires faster evacuation of surplus water. Consequently, SONABEL will open the valves of the dam flood evacuator from <strong data-start=\"1780\" data-end=\"1821\">Monday, August 25, 2025, at 8:00 a.m.<\/strong>, instead of Wednesday, August 27, as initially announced.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1883\" data-end=\"2085\">\n<p data-start=\"1885\" data-end=\"2085\">SONABEL therefore invites the coastal populations living downstream of the dam to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions against the risks of flooding that may result from this measure.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 data-start=\"2087\" data-end=\"2124\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Implications_for_Northern_Ghana\"><\/span>Implications for Northern Ghana<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2126\" data-end=\"2422\">The <strong data-start=\"2130\" data-end=\"2166\">annual spillage of the Bagre Dam<\/strong> often causes widespread flooding in <strong data-start=\"2203\" data-end=\"2221\">Northern Ghana<\/strong>, particularly in farming communities located along the White Volta Basin.
